Founded early in 2006 by Jo Ann Collins,
Arts Junction is a legally certified 501c3 non-profit
corporation based in Missouri.
Jo Ann Collins
Jo Ann has been involved in producing jazz concerts
and festivals since 1986. After founding a not-for-profit
jazz organization in 1988, she became involved in fund
raising for jazz, created special events to promote
jazz, collaborated with other arts agencies and educational
institutions in presenting jazz and, over the years,
has built a nationwide network of jazz presenters, arts
and cultural organizations as well as educational institutions.
Collaborating with Dr. Gerald Early at Washington University,
she was responsible for the overall coordination of
special projects such as the Black Heartland Conference
and the Miles Davis Conference. Jo Ann founded the Billy
Higgins Fresno State Jazz Festival in 1999 and served
as a member of the board of directors for the campus
radio station, KFSR.FM. She earned a Master’s
Degree in English from Fresno State in 2004.
She is a member of the International Association of
Jazz Educators, the Association of Performing Arts Presenters,
and Chamber Music America.
Terry Perkins
Terry has been a music journalist since 1983, specializing
in jazz – but with a wide range of interests in
other musical styles ranging from blues and R&B
to roots rock, bluegrass, folk and world music. He writes
on a regular basis for DownBeat, Jazz Times, the St.
Louis Post-Dispatch, www.AllAboutJazz.com, www.JazzStandards.com,
Jazz Series Review, and contributes to the St. Louis
American, St. Louis magazine as well as other publications
and websites.
In addition to his credentials as a journalist, Terry
has experience as a video scriptwriter and producer
– creating videos for major corporations as well
as individual musicians. He has also written copy for
an array of other media – from print brochures
and electronic press kits to TV and radio ads and websites.
Terry also works as the manager for vocalists Anita Rosamond and Brian Owens. |
